Both Andalusian hotels have successfully passed the audit by TraveLife Sustainability System, and have updated their respective TraveLife certificates in the Gold category.
One of the aspects that the well-known certification company has particularly stood out is that both hotels offer protocols and devices that ensure responsible water management and water development.
10th of January 2024. Even though the commitment to sustainability has increased lately, in markets such as the British, the search for environmentally destinations and hotels started a long time ago.
In fact, in 2007 the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) created TraveLife, a sustainability system whose objective is to promote sustainable practices in the travel industry. Since then, it has become a global agency of certification of the accommodations’ sustainability, which is very well-respected globally for being impartial and for the range of areas it audits. In this sense, it analyses from carbon emissions, biodiversity, human rights and labour rights to child protection and animal welfare, among many other aspects.
The responsible management of the water development: a subject of significant interest
Among its areas of action, one that stands out is one that is very up-to-date nowadays, especially in destinations such as Andalusia. We are talking about the responsible management of the water development, a significant aspect in hotel establishments and the travel industry.
On this matter, Fuerte Group Hotels was one of the pioneering hotel chains to implement protocols and devices that ensure the responsible water development. A matter that has been recently certificated by the experts of TraveLife, by an audit to the hotels Fuerte El Rompido (Huelva) and Fuerte Conil-Resort and updated their already held Travelife Certificates in the Gold category.
Both Fuerte El Rompido (Huelva) y Fuerte Conil-Resort were pioneers in their respective provinces in implementing sustainable measures, and the last mentioned was the first hotel in Spain accredited with a ISO14001 certificate because of its environmental management. Their location in natural enclaves of great environmental value, and the need to preserve them, was one of the reasons why Fuerte Group Hotels began its commitment to sustainability.
