The thirteenth edition of this festival will be held from 24 to 29 September in various points of Estepona, Marbella and Malaga
The 13th Costa del Sol International Week of Fantastic Film will start with two luxury stars: Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. The inner conflict of humanity between good and evil will be the central axis of the festival, which includes parallel activities in the towns of Estepona, Marbella and Malaga.
The festival is starting today and it will finish next Saturday, the 29th September. The program will include film exhibitions, acknowledgements to great names related to horror cinema, lectures, exhibitions, presentation of books, and live music, gathering in the Costa del Sol fans of the fantastic genre.
Fuerte Hoteles joins the second consecutive year the organization of the festival and the Fuerte Foundation, both official sponsors, renowned for their great contribution. So, jurors facilities and enjoy the charms of the hotels.
Estepona, main venue of the Festival
Congress Hall and Padre Manuel Cultural Centre will be the places of the town of Estepona where the programmed activities will be held, including the festival opening and closing ceremonies.
In addition, Fuerte Foundation will organize, in collaboration with the Unicornio Association, the lecture “Mysterium Iniquitatis”, based on the myth of the novel Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, by the psychiatrist Dr Jose Ignacio del Pino. It will take place at Fuerte Estepona hotel at 19:00 hours and the well-known journalist Juan Manuel de Prada will be attending the event.
On Friday the book “La Marca de Doctor Jekyll y Mister Hyde” will be presented by its authors at the Congress Hall. After the presentation there will be a theme party at Estepona Marina.
To close the intense week, on Saturday the prizes will be presented: the Unicornio Awards, Waldemar Daninsky Prize to Paco Plaza and “La TV es Fantastica” Prize to “Los Protegidos” TV series which will be collected by the actress Ana Fernandez. The Special Jury Prize will be collected by Macarena Gomez.
Marbella, fantastic town
The Special Jury Prize will be delivered to the cartoonists Forges and Azpiri at Cortijo de Miraflores Cultural Centre. The prize-winners will present their collection “Horreibols and Terrifics Books”.
On Thursday the Cultural Centre will host the presentation of the book “Fairy New Tales”, a compilation of fantastic stories by the duo of draughtsmen Dkiller Panda, and the exhibition of their best drawings.
On Friday the 1920 silent movie “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” will be projected, a classic horror and fantastic film with live music from “The Demeter Experience”.
Malaga also joins the cinema
At the Area de Cultura de la Diputación some of the festival activities will be included, such as the projection of the film and the presentation of the book “Fairy New Tales”.
On Friday at 12:30 the lecture and round table with the title “El Cine Fantastico Español, Presente y Futuro” (Spanish Fantastic Cinema, present and future) will be held.
